Cheers to 2023 and having a Pantone color that is inclusive to all.  Viva Magenta 18-1750

Heard of the Pantone or Color of the year but not sure what it means and how it’s used? We have the skinny for you!

The Pantone Color System also known as PMS was created in 1963 by Lawrence Herbert.  It's an identification system for communicating and matching color. From everything to picking a color for your wall to designers using color for their seasonal collections and all color conscious industries.

“In this age of technology, we look to draw inspiration from nature and what is real. PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta descends from the red family, and is inspired by the red of cochineal, one of the most precious dyes belonging to the natural dye family as well as one of the strongest and brightest the world has known.

Rooted in the primordial, PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta reconnects us to original matter. Invoking the forces of nature, PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta galvanizes our spirit, helping us to build our inner strength.”-Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director for Pantone Color Institute

Some interesting key points:

-Once name Pantone colors never change

-While very expensive to date only two people have purchased their own custom pantone colors. Sherry Chris, CEO of Better Homes and Garden Realty and artist/entrepreneur Jay Z.

The overall goal is to enforce the highest level of precision to support the design, manufacturing, and textile production.
