The Next Era 5+5: A Daily Practice for Conscious Becoming

Five beliefs. Five daily intentions. Ten minutes to practice the life you’re creating.
Have you ever read a book about setting boundaries and still struggled to say no? Or understood the importance of rest but felt guilty when you finally slowed down?
It’s one thing to know what we should do and another to actually put it into practice.
Lately, I’ve been exploring the concept of conscious rehearsal. Think about how dancers rehearse choreography or athletes mentally prepare for a performance. The idea is to become more familiar with an action before it’s time to put it into practice.
What if we approached our personal development the same way?
That’s where The Next Era 5 + 5 comes in!
What is The Next Era 5 + 5?
It’s a simple ten-minute journaling exercise I’ve been developing to help connect what we believe with how we actually show up in our daily lives.
The concept is simple: Five beliefs + five daily intentions.
The first five establish our personal beliefs, while the second five give us an opportunity to practice them.
Part One: Five Things I Believe
Start by identifying five beliefs you want to strengthen. They don’t have to be things you’ve already mastered. They can be principles you’re actively working toward.
For example:
1. I believe I can create a meaningful life without constantly being exhausted.
2. I believe I can trust myself to make decisions that align with my values.
3. I believe my worth is not determined by my productivity.
4. I believe I can be compassionate while maintaining healthy boundaries.
5. I believe I am capable of creating a beautiful and fulfilling next era.
Your five might focus on relationships, finances, faith, wellness, confidence, or whatever is important in your current season. They can also change as you grow!
Part Two: Five Ways Today Looks
Now that we’ve identified our beliefs, how do we put them into practice?
Each morning, complete these five prompts:
1. Today, I choose to feel… What emotional state would I like to support today?
2. Today, I show up as a woman who… What behaviors reflect the person I’m becoming?
3. Today, when I encounter a challenge, I will… How can I respond intentionally instead of reacting out of habit?
4. Today, I honor myself by… What’s one way I can care for myself today?
5. Today, my life looks like… How can I be present and enjoy the life I’m currently living?
A sentence or two for each prompt is enough. We’re creating a daily practice, not another overwhelming task.
How do you get started?
Set aside ten minutes each morning.
● Minutes 1–3: Read and reflect on your five beliefs.
● Minutes 4–8: Complete your five daily prompts.
● Minutes 9–10: Mentally rehearse one situation you may encounter that day.
For example, if you’re working on maintaining boundaries, imagine receiving a request you don’t have the capacity to fulfill. Think about how you could respond kindly and confidently.
Then go about your day and give yourself an opportunity to put it into practice.
Mental rehearsal doesn’t replace real-life experience, but it can help us prepare for the behaviors we’re trying to develop. One of the ideas I’ve appreciated while exploring the work of Joe Dispenza is the importance of moving beyond simply understanding a concept and beginning to practice it.
After all, we don’t become patient just by reading about patience. We become more patient by practicing it in situations that require it.
The same applies to confidence, compassion, and the many other qualities we want to develop.
You don’t need a new notebook or an elaborate morning routine to begin. Just ten minutes and a willingness to become more intentional.
The way Rome wasn’t built in a day, neither is the life we’re creating. The idea is to make small, thoughtful choices that support who we want to become.
Because becoming isn’t just about what we believe. It’s about what we practice.
