Travel Diaries: DC stay at the WhyHotel

On our recent trip to Washington DC we were booked to stay at the New WhyHotel. While this company is around 5 years old the DC location we were told has just passed its first birthday. They currently occupy the 7th through 9th floor of the building that also houses residences so the airbnb likeness brings a feeling like home versus a hotel stay. Our 1 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment was super cute and had a balcony overlooking the city. 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments are available and come with a full kitchen and washer/dryer. Can we talk about the closet though? This closet I’m sure will make me never give a standard hotel a second thought. We arrived a few hours before check in and while every standard hotel I have stayed in will work to accommodate you please note the Whyhotel will charge you an early check in fee. We were told $50 to check in around 12 pm versus 3pm. A room wasn't ready at our arrival time so we stored our bags and took to the streets for lunch. Just an FYI their check out time is 11am and late check out fee is $100. All entrance accessibility is electronic. You are issued one key fob and have access to download an app as a second key option.

Settled right in the middle of the Union Market district, the area is upcoming and really cozy. TheUnion Market very much resembles TimeOut Market in Miami hosting independent eateries and artisans. All very affordable with food from numerous countries, wine vendors, and plenty of dessert options. The Whyhotel has plenty of amenities as guests have access to most things offered to residents. The fitness center is a two story wonderland with a setup that would please novice to avid gym goers. The club house is set up as a lower lounge complete with pool table, ample seating, foosball and some of our favorite childhood games like pacman. My love and I made this a nightcap opportunity to play and explore the property after working. Check out my full gallery of photos below and click here to visit theWhyHotel.
